Vacation Bible School will be right around the corner again! Why is VBS important? It is here that many children come to know Christ. Unchurched families may not attend our churches, but they may send their children to Bible school. According to the Barna Group , "Nearly half (43%) of all Americans who accept Jesus Christ as their saviour do so before reaching the age of 13."
The sad news is that the Barna Group also found that "Another shift in children's ministry since 1997 has been the 12% decline in the percentage of churches offering Vacation Bible School (or VBS) - from 81% to 69%. That represents about 38,000 fewer churches offering VBS than eight years ago."
In response to the question, "Why not offer VBS?" pastors' top three reasons were - a lack of teachers, a lack of time, and that they offer "other activities." I fear that another reason could be a lack of funds.
Dennis and Karen Regling offer an affordable and exciting alternative to the traditional VBS program. With a minimum of volunteers needed and no expensive kit to buy, the Reglings can help even the smallest church host a community event that will bless not only the children, but the entire family.
Using real preaching, exciting missionary stories and Bible verse memorization, the Reglings get the message of salvation in Jesus Christ to the children. Each evening is filled with games, puppets, prizes, amazing object lessons (some say they look like magic), balloon animals and other fun activities.
Young and old will enjoy the program. At one church last summer, all the adults sat way in the back of the church Monday evening. By Wednesday, they were all sitting right behind the children, participating in the games and songs.
Matthew 18:3 "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."
The theme for 2015 is Search For The Kingdom. Using Matthew 6:33 as our theme verse for the week, we will explore the Kingdom of God. Our adventurers will look at different clues from the Bible in their search. The program is filled with skits, puppets, games and a missionary story. Our puppet friend Elmer will imagine himself as Indiana Elmer and a mysterious cloaked character will do her best to thwart brother Dennis.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
God's Science Lab. Through the week, the wonders of creation are explored with amazing science demonstrations, puppet skits and songs. The children will also learn of God's great love for them and the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Each night Sister Karen shares an exciting missionary story. At least one mystifying object lesson (did someone say magic trick?) is presented each night to illustrate Bible truths.
Riverboat Rescue as the Possum Woods Puppets travel by steamboat and face the Pirates of the Missisloppy River. Sister Karen will share the story of missionary Jim Eliott. It is never to early to schedule for next year.
The Reglings can also adjust their program to fit your theme or for shorter or longer programs.
Over the years, God has used the Reglings to bring many children, teens and adults to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. New families have been added to churches, children's ministry programs have grown, church members have volunteered to become involved in various ministries in the church and some churches have even experienced revival. A week or even an evening with the Reglings is more than just fun. Every service honors God and lifts Jesus up, challenging the believer and sharing God's love with the lost.
Is not my word like...
a HAMMER that breaketh the rock in pieces?
--THE LORD, Jeremiah 23:29
According to a publication of the "US Center for World Missions", 85% of all people worldwide who decide to accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour, are between 4 and 14 years old.
Other studies observed that: In the US, 90% of all pastors and missionaries got to know the Lord while they were children, and had a responsibility in church while they were children.
The Christian churches lose more children of Christian parents, than they gain new converts by means of evangelistic efforts.
